The Trail Skirt is made from 100% boiled wool and designed to be worn over leggings for hiking, outdoor adventures, or simply keeping your backside a little warmer on chilly days.

It has a comfortable 95% cotton / 5% spandex knit yoga-style waistband that stays soft against the body while providing the structure and stretch needed to keep the skirt comfortably in place. Generous pockets make it practical for both the trail and everyday wear. Its serged hem reduces bulk and preserves the natural drape of the wool.

The boiled wool provides cozy warmth without a lot of bulk, making this an easy layer to throw on over leggings when you want a little more coverage and warmth.

A Note About the Waistband

I opted for a cotton/spandex waistband rather than merino for this design. While I love merino for its temperature-regulating properties, I found that it did not have quite enough structure to reliably hold the weight of the boiled wool without the skirt gradually sliding down.

The 95% cotton / 5% spandex knit gives the waistband the stability and recovery needed to keep the skirt comfortably in place while still providing the soft, flexible feel I wanted.

This is an adult-sized skirt with a comfortable, generous fit designed to be worn over leggings.

A First Look at a New Design

This skirt is a tester piece for a new design I'm developing. It is fully wearable and thoughtfully constructed, but it is being offered as a first version while I continue refining the design.

The construction, fit, and materials of future versions may change based on what I learn from this piece.

Boiled wool is naturally low maintenance and rarely needs washing.

• Hand wash only when necessary using a wool-safe detergent.
• Lay flat to dry.
